The album is called "Medley" and here's why: all the tracks on here are small snippets of the full versions of familiar tunes.

Maybe the incongruity of five heavily-accented singers performing Disney hits, given their own special "touch", one minute at a time (you've really got to admire their arranging here - "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" is my personal favorite) will make you smile. Maybe the fact that they're singing Platters hits that we've all sung along with before (like "My Prayer" as a passionate Mediterranean serenade, an awesome bass solo on "Sixteen Tons", and a tenor that croons on "Only You" so well it'll make you swoon like a little girl) will do it for you.

Maybe when they're singing show tunes from "West Side Story" (everybody wants to be a jet, after all), where actually, the accent fits perfectly ("Tonight" with vocal percussion and jazz chords really does work well), you'll feel like grinning.

Maybe during their last three medley themes - "I Love America," which features tunes from Broadway and great American songbook composers like Gershwin and Porter, "A & B" Road (a ROCKIN' tribute to the Beatles), "Canto Libero," (a collection of Italian popular songs by Lucio Battisti - simply gorgeous!), and "A & B G's" (you guessed it - their tribute to the Bee Gees), you'll crack a smile. And why??

Because of this: If it's possible for music to seem like a friend, this CD accomplishes just that. Because they're the songs that we all know and love, given in small helpings, prepared with lots of love, just like an Italian kitchen. Except for the helpings - they're usually much bigger in a real Italian cucina, no? There are 32 tracks of a cappella goodies on here, folks. Pick up this happy CD today and mangia! (36:39 2005)
