Long known for their diverse musical adventures, Gas House Gang does not disappoint on this marvelous CARA-nominated holiday album! There are spectacular arrangements by David Wright ("Little Drummer Boy," incredibly powerful "Mary Did You Know," "Carol of the Bells") performed with exquisite musicality. The tender, contemporary sound on "Merry Christmas, Darling" is just perfect for the song. They bring in Rockapella's Jeff Thacher to provide vocal percussion on "Go Tell It On The Mountain" - wow! And a cute child soloist and children's chorus sweetens up the title song. The CD has a bonus track - Jim Henry's hysterical (mis)telling of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" - very amusing! (42:07 2000)

"The Short Version: This CD is fantastic; buy it! The Long Version: Crank the volume up to full for this one, because the Gas House Gang is in peak form here. There are some fantastic songs on this CD, and they are all very well performed. My favorites include "O Come O Come Emmanuel," "Carol of the Bells," and "Do You Hear What I Hear." However, the best track, far and away, is "Mary Did You Know," which is, for lack of better words, awe-inspiring. Play "Mary Did You Know" with other people around, and they WILL drop whatever they are doing and listen. And when it ends, they WILL stand there in stunned silence. Enough said. Buy this album."
