Hookslide: Original Spin
The Silicon Valley-based Hookslide is one of those rare groups that managed to get a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award before they'd even released an album ("Dream On" appeared on the California Screamin' disc before Hookslide's own album was released, and won the CARA for Best Pop/Rock Cover). What does that say about the group's work? A lot, and it's all good. Only two of the 13 tracks here are covers; some of the stand-out originals are Paul "Bud" Anderson's "Needed More" and Mayank Thanawala's "Waiting." Speaking of waiting - with many groups, you have to wait for more than one CD for something this good. Not a problem with Hookslide! (2002 47:16)Song List
