The New Classic Singers have been an outgrowth of the College of DuPage in the suburbs of Chicago since director Lee Kesselman founded the group in 1982. These are not college singers, though; they are a professional vocal ensemble that has performed thrice at ACDA conventions, bringing in visiting composers the likes of Stephen Paulus ("Hallelu!") and Alice Parker ("Personent Hodie"). This CD brings together a collection of favorites from past concerts. More than half (14 of 21) have some light accompaniment (mostly piano and/or harp), and all are meaty choral pieces performed magnificently. A true choral joy for the holidays! (72:46 2002)
