QuadraVox Quartet: One Bright Star

For their debut, this Utah-based men's barbershop quartet released a solid holiday recording. Two of them are arrangers, with baritone Ryan Kemp contributing the bouncy "Jingle Bell Rock/Jingle Bells" medley and "The Grinch," while tenor Kevin Price put together "In the Bleak Midwinter," "Mary Did You Know" and the title track, guitar-accompanied "One Bright Star." A piano also accompanies their "Christmas Medley" (though mostly as interludes) to contrast with Society arrangements such as "Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." (43:22 2004)

Winter Wonderland (arr. Barbershop Harmony Society)

"This is a great change from the 24/7 "holiday" songs pushed on us by the mainstream media. Great real barbershop harmony and the right mix of humor and wit. A perfect addition to anyone's Christmas collection."
