With arrangements by musical genius Robert Russell Bennett (he scored many hit Broadway musicals, including "Show Boat," "Anything Goes," "Annie Get Your Gun," "South Pacific" and more), Robert Shaw organizes the Christmas story into four "suites," all including four to five traditional holiday carols. The RCA Victor Orchestra accompanies them all, with no breaks during the suites. The orchestra part is simply wonderful, highlighting the singers' voices splendidly, but at the same time, totally able to stand on their own.
