The Swingle Singers got their start way back in 1963 by performing jazzed-up classics by Bach, Mozart et. al. On this marvelous recording the modern group shows that the Grammy-winning musical magic is still there. At times, the drums & bass they used in the '60s are replaced vocally, as on the Vivaldi/Bach "Fugue" that opens the CD - that's right, Swingle Singers doing vocal percussion! These all-new performances include some familiar pieces: Debussy's lovely "Clair de Lune," Beethoven's '"Moonlight Sonata," Bach's "Largo" and "Fugue in D Minor," Chopin's "Prelude (op. 28 no. 4 in E minor)." Founder Ward Swingle arranged half the pieces on the album, which also includes works by Handel, Mozart, and Brahms. (45:06 2000)
