Coats, The: R+U+^ ? (Are You Up?)
Be the first to review this product
This all-original release consists of songs with lyrics and music by Jamie Dieveney, with some collaboration on the music from his producers. Most songs include percussion tracks a la the Nylons, and two include guitar as well (country-ish "Are You Up" and lovely "All That I Can Do") while "Nice to Say" has a light piano accompaniment. However, this album is hardly a departure from the group's a cappella past. Their harmony is tighter than ever, and their upbeat sound pervades this great recording (as in tongue-in-cheek Latin number "Mary's Nachos" and amusing "Dance Alone"). Of the a cappella tunes, we especially like "The Ebb and the Flow" and "No Way", although there are many enjoyable songs. Other than "Cool For You," the dozen songs are new material - which will no doubt please Trenchcoats fans. This group just keeps getting better! (44:43 1996) The Coats: R+U+^ ? (Are You Up?)
