The second in the AIC's (Association of InternationalChampions) series of "best-of-the-best" collections from past champions features four more quartets that have earned the gold medal - Keepsake (1992 champs), Dealer's Choice (1973 champs), Four Renegades (1965 champs) and The Suntones (1961 champs). Keepsake exemplifies the modern tight quartet sound starting with "Make 'Em Laugh"and shines through all 20 tracks on their disc. Dealer's Choice shows why they are still revered in barbershop circles with their expressive style right from the get-go in "Who'll Take My Place When I'm Gone." The Four Renegades, consummate entertainers that they were, provide a light-hearted yet skilled group of 20 songs, complete with audience laughter and applause to show just how much fun they really did have (i.e. "Mr. Bassman"). The Suntones are known for their extensive recording and performance history after winning their gold medal, and their finely honed sound is testament to their success on classics like "No, No, Nora" and "Their Hearts Were Full of Spring." AIC gets another medal of their own for putting together such a comprehensive selection of barbershop gems.(4-CDs, 2001)
