American composer Eric Whitacre's a cappella compositions are featured on this disc, performed by the very talented Brigham Young University Singers. Almost devoid of traditional "melodies," the music here is full of tone clusters evolving into triads; organization out of chaos; music based on beautiful poetry by Octavio Paz, e.e. cummings, Edmund Waller and even a short libretto by Charles Anthony Silvestri. This is an unusual recording by a talented, young American composer. Songs include "Water Night," "i thank you God for most this amazing day," "Cloudburst," "Go, Lovely Rose," and "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine."(70:32 2002)

"Not to bash the review from the website, and I understand the point they were trying to make in describing Whitacre's music (and it is a very good and valid point)... I just wanted to point out that Eric Whitacre is amazing, and fans of traditional choral music will not necessarily dislike his music. I am one of John Rutter's biggest fans, and I am actually in the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers, but I still love Eric Whitacre's music. Sure, its different, but it is amazing and heart-wrenchingly gorgeous. Just thought I'd point that out to all the traditional choral music lovers like me. :)"
