Through ups and downs, and many label changes, The Persuasions have been the primary force in keeping acapella music visible. They have never feared to tackle songs that other acapella groups would not, with a style that never lets you forget that this is R&B and not R&R. This 1988 CD was recorded live in the Whispering Gallery of Grand Central Terminal in the heart of NYC. I don't think the location contributed anything to the sound, but that does not matter. You can feel in the performance the audience connection in this intimate 'hall', and the twelve songs leave you wanting more. My biggest gripe is that there is no more - less than 40 minutes of music is on this disc. I doubt that there is anyone who listens to this style of music who has not heard them, but coming on a small label from, of all places, The British Virgin Islands, this CD can easily miss your radar. It shouldn't, because these men should be heard live, and this is as live as it gets.
